Descendants of Basilosaurus.
Their skin acts as a near-perfect blackbody, with the result that it helps camouflage them not just visually but from almost all manners of detection.
They also use this effect to regulate their temperature while traveling through space.
These can be extremely dangerous creatures but are fairly rare and tend to travel alone.
Typical size is about 70ft long.
